of an afternoon
eyes wait,
lost to the whirling, dark,
bitter,
apple-green sky
burdened black,

unaware
fields
suddenly
carried out to sea,
drowned green
in the white foam.

after,
new
songs emerge,
gasping,

bent
under
the newness.
