“Spirit” looks most appropriate. A nice close-up.
Sonja, I LOVE your wolf photo! Such beautiful creatures, and this close-up is awesome! 🙂
Gorgeous photo–definitely can see the Spirit in the eyes.
I agree with Ben and Caddo about “Spirit”! Wolves are such beautiful, intelligent creatures. Wonderful photo!
Wonderful capture of this wolf panting in the heat! So very patient!
So beautiful! I love their amber eyes that are always outlined as if they have eyeliner on. It must have been a hot day in New Mexico! I would love to visit the sanctuary one day, do they have a release program or is it a home for life sanctuary?
The sanctuary is for wolves that are not capable of surviving in the wild. Therefore it is a sanctuary for life. Both wolf dogs and wolves find a home there in the Zuni Mountains of New Mexico. The Mexican wolf is native in New Mexico, but only a handful survive along the Mexican, New Mexican, and Arizona borders, and there is no guarantee that will not go extinct in that area in the near future. A lot of ranchers are opposed to the wolves survival in southern New Mexico, and the death of a wolf makes the newspapers in the state every once in awhile, often through human intervention.
