Women

by Ethel Mortenson Davis

When will we take
half the earth and stars
back?
Stand up and protect
the children,
the animals
and the earth?

When will we take back
Our God?
Our Mother?

  1. I don’t know! Great verse xxx::)

  2. Perhaps this is a process rather than a destination. Seems a might long and wearisome journey sometimes. :sigh:

    Reblogged this on Eremophila’s Musings and commented:
    Let’s hope before its too late…..

  4. I know we shall, someday – humanity will waken and undo thousands of years of blocking out our Mother, Earth, Gaia, female energy…. Wonderful poem, Ethel.

    I’d like to know what you were thinking about, or reading about, before you wrote this one. I was just reading an article by Stephen Lewis on the plight of women in aids-torn Africa. It was an article with the same underlying question, or questions concerning the value and treatment of women.

    • I’ve read articles on child abuse where mothers protect the abuser rather than the child. Articles on the great apes and elephants along with tigers being pushed to extinction. And on and on….

    When indeed? And if we do not, who will? Excellent, thought-provoking poem, Ethel! ~ Julie xox
