Like willow, I see an emotion in the face (though I’d say surprise and a bit of indignation, myself)… at the same time, I know it’s a mask, a fixed expression. It summons a weird reaction of sensing and not sensing an emotion.
Even though the colors are bold with strong lines, there’s is a sense of fear and withdrawal…
Interesting how the emotions of the wearer have shown through a basically immovable mask…don’t know if you were thinking about that when you painted it…but for me very profound, Ethel, and very well done!
I see fear and pain in the face or is it realization.

But either way, it’s cool-lookin’. 🙂
There is awe and surprise in the eyes and mouth. The colors are wonderful. Rich, earthy and yet resonate of sky too.
It was scary to me, so I didn’t say anything yesterday…excellent, but scary.
Ethel, this is amazing! I like the title of Representing Human–for that is all we can really do about ourselves, isn’t it! Love the colors you chose.
This is the title that the Northwest Coastal native gave this mask. It is real and is in Canada. I made a copy of the mask. Ethel
Excellent work…
Looks like it’s about to speak.
