Goldleaf

poem and photograph by Ethel Mortenson Davis

Stopped
to look
at the Byzantine light
coming out of the morning sky ΜΆ
goldleaf
burnishing the edges,
turning the deep mountains
violet.

Take my hand
before we become
common!
