Maple Sugar Moon

On World Poetry Day

by Ethel Mortenson Davis

Maple sugar moon,
golden-eyed
like maple sap
boiling over wood fires.

Finally,
you tell us
of the coming spring—
sweetness that brings
satisfaction,

one more year
to get things right.
