All Things That Matter Press (ATTMP) has just sent me the cover for In the Unsettled Homeland of Dreams, my new novel about the black fisherman community that settled on Washington Island off Door County before passage of the Fugitive Slave Act. ATTMP is shooting for an early August release. After better than sixteen drafts, I’m ready!

I’m sure all your effort will be worth it, Tom. I envy you your energy, determination and perseverance. Still working my way through “An American Spirit” among all the other things I am involved in. The first anniversary of Margaret’s death fell on Thursday. It has been a strange year. I haven’t done much serious reading. Or cooking, for that matter. I know I owe you an e-mail (or more) but that doesn’t mean I don’t think of you quite often. And fondly. When I don’t see you posting I imagine you busy writing away or supporting the Education system you helped to establish and build. Long may you run!
The title is wonderful –is it a quote from anywhere?
From a Pablo Neruda poem. I quote from the poem on the first page of the book. Thanks so much for this comment.
