Cottontail

by Ethel Mortenson Davis

Crazy cottontail,
spinning in the desert,
running in circles
in snow
mixed with rain.

Must be happy,
back and forth.

Greening
of the world
means
eating again.

  1. Those last four liners:perfect!

  2. Bouncing with life and energy, glad to be alive. You bring her to life on the page.

  3. I think ‘Beeseeker’ has it right: those last four lines bring an unexpected observation, and true to life.

  4. Ethel, I really enjoyed this – it’s profound and charming, sweet and powerful. Made me both smile (at the imagery) and then contemplate its truth and wisdom!
