Blue on yellow, yellow on green.
The white cloth-patched sky belongs
With the thin gauze look
Of a dragonfly’s wings.
A poem is…. a conversation
Just heard by you and me,
A laugh, a smile, a deep black sky,
And the ever changing sea.
a children’s poem by Thomas Davis
This is beautiful Tom.
Hope you are recovering well

Yes, it is beautiful. When my cousin asked about you this week, I told her you’ve written wonderful poems for your children, and love poems to Ethel.
very sweet poem which brings lovely imagery to mind. It does make one smile. Thank you
This is charming Tom!
I was about to write that you do this poem a disservice by calling it a children’s poem, but perhaps the best poetry is for children—no, the best way to read a poem is as a child might…or the owl and the pussycat…
They dined on mince, and slices of quince,
Which they ate with a runcible spoon;
And hand in hand, on the edge of the sand,
They danced by the light of the moon,
The moon,
The moon,
They danced by the light of the moon.
Thomas, I hope you are feeling better.
Jim
Sensational – can see this working with children well, but sometimes adults need a bit of this too.
Not only children this, but also those adults who have not lost their sense of wonder.
